Beloved Harrisburg nonprofit leader dies: ‘She wanted to make the community better ‘

Betty Hungerford, a Harrisburg-area community leader and “fundraising tour de force,” died on June 27 at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She was 94.

Hungerford, who was active in the development and public relations fields for more than 35 years, and most notably, was the director of development for the Homeland Center, a private non-profit retirement community in Harrisburg.
