YORK, Pa. (WHTM) — Mayor Sandie Walker (D) fired a now-former official “as her first official act as mayor” after he raised concerns about a conflict of interest involving the mayor, the official has alleged in a lawsuit.
In a federal, civil lawsuit, which does not same Walker as a defendant, Blanda Nace — who served until Jan. 5 as York’s chief opportunity development officer — claims he was fired that day by Walker, shortly after she was sworn in and two weeks after he had raised concerns to Michael Helfrich, the then-outgoing mayor, about $3 million in COVID-era ARPA money, which had yet to be distributed.
