LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Multiple Midstate counties are under a drought warning as the region is hit with a heat wave bringing temperatures around 100 degrees.
A map of Pennsylvania drought statuses shows other Midstate counties such as Lebanon, Lancaster, Franklin, Fulton and Cumberland are under a warning. Adams, York and Dauphin counties are under a drought watch.
Due to the warning, the City of Lebanon Authority is asking its customers, including daycares, schools, and other educational institutions, to voluntarily reduce water usage by 10 to 15% by doing the following:
- No outside use of water (except for newly seeded areas)
- Checking for indoor and outdoor household leaks
- Reducing the number of toilet flushes
- Shortening shower time
- Washing hands quickly
- Turning off water while brushing teeth
- Running dishwashers and washing machines with only full loads
- Using paper cups and plates whenever possible
- Any establishment serving food should not serve water unless requested
Reducing water usage by that much would be about 13 to 20 gallons of water per day…
