York County township issues burn ban ahead of America’s 250th anniversary celebration

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — A burn ban has been put in effect for Newberry Township due to ongoing dry weather and the increased fire risk it presents; the fire department announced on Wednesday.

The ban was put in place as a joint determination with the township manager and the Newberry Township Fire Department, as dry conditions have increased the chances of fire spreading.

“We know this announcement comes at a difficult time, especially with our community’s upcoming 250th Anniversary Celebration. However, the safety of our residents, visitors, and our firefighters has to remain our top priority,” the fire department wrote on Facebook…
