PennDOT seeks public input ahead of Market Street Bridge rehab project

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is fielding public comments as it prepares to start a seven-year rehabilitation project on the Market Street Bridge.

Community members can submit comments to PennDOT online until Sept. 7. There will also be an in-person open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Harrisburg City Government Center.

The $149 million project aims to fix the deteriorating sidewalk on the bridge’s upstream side, remove the sidewalk on the downstream side and construct a new superstructure underneath the 16-span bridge…
