PA 529 awards more than $33,000 to state families, including Dauphin County resident

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The winners of a promotion announced earlier this year by the PA 529 College and Career Savings Program have been revealed.

The state treasury department announced the recipients of the PA 529 Day contest Tuesday, with each winner getting $5,529 deposited into their PA 529 accounts. One of the six winners was Dauphin County resident Kara Connors.

“I think it’s such a wonderful program that you let individuals other than the parents sign up and do this,” Connors said in a press release. “My niece and nephews are so important to me and my family, and I really want to be able to help them with their future in some way.”

“Every child deserves the chance to pursue their dreams, and PA 529 can help families turn those dreams into reality,” Pa. Treasurer Stacy Garrity said. “I’m proud that Treasury can help families grow their education savings through PA 529, preparing their children for success – no matter where the future takes them or what career path they choose.”…
