York County man arrested on felony rape charges

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A York County man has been arrested after an investigation into “long-term sexual abuse involving a juvenile victim.”

The Newberry Township Police Department announced Wednesday that it had charged Gabriel Garcia-Figueroa, 36, of York Haven, with “numerous felony offenses,” including rape of a child, rape by forcible compulsion, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault of a child and corruption of minors, in addition to five other misdemeanors.

Police said that it had received a report alleging that Garcia-Figueroa had “sexually abused the juvenile victim over a period of approximately seven years,” conducting additional interviews and recovering evidence consistent with the report during a subsequent investigation. He was taken into custody in York on Wednesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Garcia-Figueroa faces 18 charges in total. His bail was set at $1,000,000, and he is currently being held at York County Prison. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 16…
