MECHANICSBURG, P.a. (WHTM) — Both Gettysburg and Bishop McDevitt were looking to make up for missed opportunities in 2023, as the 2022 2A and 3A district champs had a chance to take the trophy back at Cumberland Valley on Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg was up first against wrestling powerhouse Boiling Springs — the Bubblers hold the most District III team wrestling titles at nine — and the Warriors showed they had no business being the 5-seed. They handled their business with a 44-15 final against Boiling Springs to capture the 3A crown.
After that was the 2A final, a repeat of last year’s final between Bishop McDevitt and Berks Catholic. The Saints won in 2023, but the Crusaders took back the trophy on Saturday with a 40-21 result.
Next up for all four teams is the PIAA state tournament at the Giant Center in Hershey starting Thursday.
