Midstate nonprofit starting new program to help those struggling with addiction

PENNSYLVANIA. (WHTM) – A Midstate nonprofit is starting a new program for those struggling with addiction.

“Fentanyl is showing up in almost all drugs…so it’s important to test,” said Lancaster, Harrisburg, and York Harm Reduction Project director of outreach Melinda Zipp.

The Lancaster, Harrisburg, and York Harm Reduction Provide provides information and services to people who use drugs. They are starting a new mailing program to expand their services in rural parts of the counties they serve.

“We’re seeing more and more overdoses happening through fentanyl with cocaine. People aren’t expecting opioids to be in their cocaine. Almost all dope if you want to say, is straight, fentanyl and xylazine at this point,” said Zipp.
