Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center has completed the final stage of its Heart and Vascular Progressive Care Unit’s move. The two-stage relocation, which started in March 2023, moved the unit from the first to the third floor. This was done to accommodate more intermediate care patients, especially after the COVID pandemic.

The unit council, staff members, and the Facilities Department planned and carried out the move. It will finish on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The move will begin at 8 a.m. and will continue until all patients are moved from 1 Main Southeast to 3 South Addition West.

The updated unit has 28 private rooms with new facilities. These include new beds, computers, patient monitors, and ceiling lifts for patient movement and nurse safety. The unit also has two larger patient rooms, two negative pressure rooms, a conference room, staff lounge, and a quiet room for staff.

Nurse manager Lillian Domitrovits praised the team’s work during the renovation. She emphasized the role of communication and teamwork in managing the unit on two different floors during the renovation.
