HERSHEY – Three years without winning a PIAA dual wouldn’t constitute a “drought” for most wrestling teams.
This is Reynolds, however, a program with higher standards than most. The District 10 Class 2A champions couldn’t help but feel disappointed when they missed Hershey in 2022 and went winless the year after.
Reynolds returned to Giant Center Thursday with a youth-laden roster and, before it was done, had re-established the reputation that comes with the royal-and-silver singlet.
The Raiders went home satisfied this year, returning to the podium with a fourth-place finish. Saturday saw them top Montoursville and Bishop McDevitt before falling to Notre Dame-Green Pond in the consolation final, an emphatic response after their opening-round loss Thursday.
“I love the kids and love the duals,” said Reynolds head coach Casey Taylor. “We take pride in competing in this, and it’s been a couple years since we’ve taken home some hardware. I always tell them, it’s for them.”
