Harrisburg woman accused of stealing $12K with fake will

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– A Harrisburg woman was accused of creating a fake will of a dead family member to steal more than $12,000, the Attorney’s General Office said in a court filing.

According to the charges filed Monday by the AG’s Office, Kimberly Ross-Seals, 59, forged the signature of a relative who died in a fire in Jan. 2021 in a fake “Last Will and Testament” to allegedly steal $12,932.94 in money.

The investigation began in Dec. 2021, and the AG’s Office says that they learned that Ross-Seals and other family members were at the scene of the fire and that she transferred $5,000 from the deceased relative’s account. Later that day, she also allegedly transferred another $5,000 from the relative’s account into hers.

Ross-Seals was the legal Power of Attorney for the relative but when they died, the AG’s office said that the POA was terminated when the family member died.

Other relatives questioned Ross-Seals about the will but she said that there was none, according to the criminal complaint. Then a month after, she reported that she “found” a will that was dated a month before the fire and had the relative’s signature. The will said that she was the executor of it and no other relatives got anything.
