Capitol building steps vandalized during ‘unauthorized demonstration,’ officials say

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– An investigation is underway after part of the Capitol Building was vandalized Tuesday, according to state officials.

A spokesperson for the state wrote in a statement that there was an “unauthorized demonstration” held by a group of people and someone put food coloring on the snow-covered steps.

“On February 13th, approximately 30 individuals held an unauthorized demonstration without a permit on the front steps of the Capitol Building,” the statement reads. “One individual admitted to pouring food coloring on the snow-covered steps. The organizers were made aware that they would be responsible for the cost of the clean-up and any permanent damage.”
