Court docs: Officer shot man in Perry County police-involved shooting while being attacked

PERRY COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Court documents shed new details about a police-involved shooting in Perry County where an officer shot a man while allegedly being attacked.

Zachary Conroy, 41, was shot by a Marysville Borough Police officer who was being beaten even after using an Electronic Immobilization Device on him, State Police at Newport said in the charges filed.

Moments before the officer-involved shooting on Thursday, State Police said that a domestic call was dispatched around 7 p.m. and an officer was pointed by the witness in the direction of a fight between two men. The officer then found Conroy walking on a sidewalk along Cassell Street.

Conroy then allegedly ignored orders to “get down,” and walked towards the officer who then used his Electronic Immobilization Device, hitting Conroy, causing him to fall to the ground.

According to the charges, Conroy still resisted, was eventually able to rip out the immobilization device, then get up and charge the officer, knocking them to the ground while hitting them in the face.
