A 41-year-old Lebanon man is facing several charges after allegedly leading multiple county and state police departments on a chase through a cornfield.
At 2:08 p.m. Sept. 26, a Lebanon City Police officer pulled over Travis Sutherly on Jonestown Road for not using his turn signal on two occasions. Upon looking up the driver’s registration of the gray GMC pickup truck, the officer found Sutherly was wanted by the Lebanon County Sherriff’s Office and Probation Office for local bench warrants.
The officers shouted commands for the driver to put his hands outside the window and step out of the vehicle, notifying Sutherly he was under arrest, according to court documents.
“The defendant then placed his vehicle in drive and began to flee the scene of the traffic stop,” police said in court documents.
Multiple agencies involved in chase into cornfield
Multiple city police units engaged in a chase with Sutherly’s truck. Officers from North Lebanon Township Police Department, Lebanon County Sheriff’s Department, probation office and Pennsylvania State Police joined in the pursuit, which continued northbound into Swatara Township.
