Lancaster County teens, first time voters share thoughts on 2024 election

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – The election is two weeks away and every demographic is crucial, including first-time voters.

Four of those first-time voters, two Elizabethtown High School seniors and two college students, shared their thoughts going into the election.

“I’m stoked,” said one of those seniors, Emma Griffith. “This is like my first opportunity to exercise my, like, privileges as a citizen and be able to vote and actually, like, make an impact.”

This Week in Pennsylvania

“To actually be able to go in on Election Day and say, this is the person I want. They’re going to represent me the best,” said Scott Creason, also a high school senior.

Griffith says while the chance to vote is thrilling, she’s not thrilled with the candidates, saying they’re “obviously not ideal.”

Creason says he wants a candidate who will focus on things “that are going to matter to younger people, like how can we buy a house after college? How can we get jobs that will pay for our lifestyles?”
