A community is rallying for a family after a 10-year-old girl was hospitalized with two brain bleeds after her dad’s motorcycle was struck by a hit-and-run driver.
Officers were called to the hit-and-run crash at the intersection of York and Porters roads in Heidelberg Township at 12:26 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, as Daily Voice previously reported.
A white 2003-2005 Ford Explorer had stopped at a stop sign facing south on Porters Road and made a left turn to travel west on York Road, striking a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was going east on York Rd, witnesses told the police.
“After the impact, the Ford Explorer fled west on York Rd. towards Hanover, PA,” police wrote in the release.
The 53-year-old Cory Houston and his 10-year-old daughter, Ella, both from Seven Valleys were wearing helmets during the crash.
The police released the following about their conditions:
“The 10-year-old girl was taken to Hershey Medical Center wear she is being treated for two brain bleeds. The mother of the child is waiting for doctors to give a prognosis of injury. The operator of the motorcycle was taken to York Hospital for extensive injuries, but is expected to recover from his injuries.”
