Historical society dedicates new museum, historical center

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — The Historical Society of East Pennsboro is celebrating its 25th anniversary this weekend.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Saturday morning for the grand opening of the newly constructed 2,400 square foot historical center on Miller Street.

The building is ADA compliant.

The executive director says the old center was out of room for archives and the new one has museum exhibits and additional storage, archival, and volunteer work space.

“We have a good workplace inside,” James Leonard, Executive Director of the historical society, said. “Eight computers and network and we’re just ready to offer everything we have to the community.”

Leonard says donations and grants helped cover the cost of the new building.
