Doug Mastriano re-elected to Pennsylvania State Senate: Election results 2024

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – State Senator Doug Mastriano (R) has been re-elected to the State Senate, defeating Democrat challenger Cameron Schroy to represent portions of Franklin and Adams counties.

Mastriano ran for Governor in 2022, winning a crowded primary with nearly 44% of the vote. He went on to lose the general election to Josh Shapiro by nearly 15 points. Mastriano faced controversy during the campaign for his role in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election and for wearing a Confederate uniform in a War College faculty picture.

Mastriano is a combat veteran who was commissioned in the U.S. Army in 1986 and served on the Iron Curtain with the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment in West Germany.

Mastriano says following the September 11 attack he was the lead planner for the operation to invade Iraq via Turkey. He also served four years with NATO and was deployed to Afghanistan three times. Mastrino also has a Doctor of History (PhD) and has acquired four master’s degrees in Strategy, Strategic Intelligence, Military Operations, and Airpower.
