Lebanon County daycare worker pleads guilty to assaulting child

LEBANON COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Lebanon County daycare worker pled guilty to assaulting a toddler while she was changing the child.

Online court records show that Angela Bender, of Lebanon, pled guilty to charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child on Oct. 30.

Bender is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 11.

State Police at Jonestown said in the charges filed that a child was taken to Penn State Hershey after suffering injuries while being looked after by Bender at daycare.

Originally, Bender claimed she dropped the child in the bathtub, however, doctors later told Troopers that the injuries had to be from abuse. There was bruising all over the toddler’s face and appeared to have subconjunctival hemorrhaging in her left eye, State Police said.

Police say Bender hit and squeezed the child in the face because the child was blowing on her face while she was changing them, making Bender angry, the charges show.
