During their Dec. 23 meeting, Palmyra borough officials addressed concerns about a council member’s second alcohol-related arrest in two years.
Council members received an email the previous week about councilman Anthony Catalani being arrested for a DUI in October, which officials said was his second arrest for excessive drinking. According to court records, Catalani was previously arrested for public drunkenness and similar misconduct in 2023.
Throughout the discussion, Catalani said that various council members and residents were putting him “on blast” and said that he is currently dealing with several personal issues.
“You all can continue to have your points and feelings and things, and judgment calls,” he said to the borough council. “I’m going to continue to do what I feel like I have to do to make this right. I can say I’m sorry, but words can can only go so far. Actions speak louder than words.”
At 2:56 a.m. Oct. 19, the South Lebanon Police Department observed a motor vehicle accident on Springwood Drive, near the intersection of Cornwall Road. According to court documents, Catalani was found in the passenger seat of his mother’s car and told officers he had dinner with some friends at the Ash Cigar Lounge in North Cornwall Township.
