Man charged after threatening to stab people in WellSpan Medical Center, Troopers say

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A man armed with a knife threatened to stab people inside WellSpan Medical Center in York County last week, State Police say.

Traver Mazzarino, 33, of York, reportedly wanted to find someone inside the center but was denied by staff at the Hopewell Township medical center. Troopers say Mazzarino then made threats while striking the glass of the reception desk with a knife saying he was “going to start stabbing people,” the charges show. He was able to force the knife through the waiting room wall, leaving a hole.

Troopers say the threats caused an evacuation of the building as staff and personnel were all “in fear for their life.”

Troopers entered the building while everyone was exiting but could not find Mazzarino.

Eventually, Troopers say they were able to make contact with Mazzarino, who stated he was in the Shrewsbury Township Walmart parking lot. He was then taken into custody without further incident.
