CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A Cumberland County couple was allegedly scammed by a person posing as a medicare employee.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, on Dec. 17, PSP Carlisle received an identity theft report. An unknown male had contacted the victim, allegedly pretending to be a medicare employee in an attempt to get personal information from the victim.
Police said the victim, a 66-year-old woman, gave the caller her and her husband’s social security numbers.
Pennsylvania State Police are asking the public to provide any additional information regarding similar incidents.
Individuals are encouraged to double-check before providing any personal information to callers.
