Man allegedly attempts to cash forged check

Mount Pleasant Mills, Pa. — A Millersburg man was charged when he allegedly attempted to cash a $900 forged check at a Snyder County bank, police say.

Forgery charges were filed against Brian Lauver, 35, on Jan. 6 after Fulton Bank in Perry Township contacted PSP Selinsgrove. Bank officials told police Lauver had come into the branch and tried to cash a forged check, according to a police report.

Bank officials told police there were past incidents at the bank involving Lauver in which he cashed fraudulent checks, according to police.

Lauver was arraigned on multiple two felony counts each of forgery, misdemeanor bad checks, and theft by deception. District Judge Jeffrey Rowe set bail at $15,000 unsecured.
