CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A mother is accused of helping her son steal $160,000 from a grandparent in Cumberland County, police said.

Mary Smith, 53, of Arizona, allegedly told her son how to access the elderly relative’s bank account and to move the money into his account, Lower Allen Township police said.

The son, Jacob Gillis, 20, had his preliminary hearing at Magisterial District Court Christopher Delozier’s office on March 6 after police filed charges against him in November for the alleged theft. At the hearing, Smith showed up, was taken into custody, and was arraigned, police said.
