Local churches, bakers say cost to make peanut butter eggs for Easter is going up

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Everyone knows that eggs are a staple of Easter Sunday each year, especially the chocolate peanut butter ones made by local bakeries and church fundraisers. But those bakers and churches say the cost to make them is going up, reducing profitability.

“My hometown would have them in the mini markets and I would always grab one like every single time I went,” said Elle Daniels, the owner of a cafe called Wake and Bake Cafe coming to Harrisburg and Elle&Olyv, which is her at-home baking business.

Now, Daniels makes and sells the eggs for a profit, much like churches will do to raise money during the Easter season…
