Reassessment process progresses in Perry County

Preliminary valuation notices for the Perry County property reassessment have been mailed to all property owners, marking a major step in the ongoing process to update property assessments for the first time since 2010.

Chief Assessor Randy Waggoner emphasized that while public frustration is understandable, particularly surrounding the limitations of the informal review process, the current system is shaped by changes to state law. In 2018, Act 155 amended Pennsylvania assessment law to eliminate the informal appeal process used in the 2010 reassessment. The law now permits only a formal appeal and an informal review limited strictly to physical or “tabular” data — not property value…
