Pennsylvania residents urged to cut pollution amid ozone alert

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has declared a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for ozone levels on Monday, June 23, in parts of central and eastern Pennsylvania.

Counties under the alert include Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York.

According to the DEP, hot weather and stagnant air will contribute to unhealthy levels of ground-level ozone pollution. Temperatures are expected to climb into the mid- to upper-90s, with little wind or atmospheric mixing to disperse pollutants.
