Water company lays out 40-year management plan to limit dumping into Susquehanna River

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Capital Region Water has completed their 40-year plan with one goal being to limit the amount of times that wastewater and untreated sewage can be dumped into the Susquehanna River.

Currently, there are more than 90 dumps per year, but the new plan could limit that number to just 12.

“We believe that it’s a strategic and responsible approach in tackling some of our infrastructure deterioration needs,” said Capital Region Water’s CEO Charlotte Katzenmoyer. “We’ve had decades of deferred maintenance. The system has not been invested in before Capital Region Water took over.”…
