14 people rescued from Swatara Creek in Dauphin County over Fourth of July weekend

HERSHEY, Pa. — According to the Hershey Volunteer Fire Company, 14 people were saved in water rescues in the Swatara Creek over Fourth of July weekend, the fire company posted on Facebook.

On the fourth, the Hershey Fire Department, alongside mutual-aid partners, responded to the Swatara Creek in the area of the railroad bridge after a report of distressed people in the water.

Fire officials said that there were four tubes and one kayak that got hung up on a debris pile. Hershey Fire Chief Pat Leonard established command and worked through conflicting information as the drone team from the fire department went airborne within a few minutes to put eyes on the victims…
