Daunting silence lingers in Harrisburg’s Dauphin County as Patricia Reitzi, grandmother of 20‑year‑old Daquan Phillips, marks four years of uncertainty and pain. On July 8, 2025, Reitzi’s plea echoed through CBS 21’s cameras: “I do feel as though they have too many cases on one detective… Where the hell do you have time to do what needs to be done?”—a searing indictment of the city’s strained homicide unit.

Phillips was fatally shot in late June 2021 near Emerald and Sixth Streets in Harrisburg. The bullet pierced his back and heart, cutting short a life that included a partner and two children—one unborn at the time. Reitzi, holding a tarnished silver locket containing his photo, visits the spot of the crime weekly. “I kneel down, touch the pavement… it still feels like yesterday,” she told me, tears tracing the years on her face.
