Dauphin County town considers criminalizing fun, banning games on public streets and sidewalks

Highspire’s Borough Council this week announced an ordinance that would prohibit all people, including children, from playing any kind of games on public streets, alleys or sidewalks.

Ordinance 660 of 2025, which will be voted on by the borough’s council during its August meeting, cites a “serious safety problem” within Highspire due to groups “ballplaying, snowballing” or playing games on streets and sidewalks.
