(WHTM)– A new lawsuit claims the way Pennsylvania assesses property values means the people who can least afford it end up paying disproportionately more than others.
Harrisburg-based “Community-Justice Project” filed the lawsuit, which claims the problem is most prevalent in some of the most urban and rural areas in Pennsylvania.
Furthermore, Pennsylvania is the only state in the United States that doesn’t require reassessments of properties on some sort of regular schedule, according to Marielle Macher of the Community-Justice Project.
