Dauphin County Commissioners address loss of $400K deposit in failed human services project

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. — In a July 30 meeting, Dauphin County Commissioners acknowledged the county would officially be losing a $400,000 deposit after commissioners abandoned plans to construct a unified human services building in Swatara Township.

The project was led by Commissioner George Hartwick, who announced the original deal to purchase the property on 3721 TecPort Drive in December 2024.

Hartwick addressed the project in the recent meeting and stated, “we’re in a different time with significant uncertainty.”…
