Veronika Rodriguez, a woman from Middletown, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to prison for making a false rape allegation and violating the Wiretap Act. She will serve between 30 days and nearly two years behind bars, as announced by the Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday (August 20). Rodriguez was found guilty of illegally recording a consensual encounter with a military doctor and then falsely claiming it was rape.
According to LOCAL 21, Rodriguez recorded the encounter with Fahad Pervez, a former military doctor, without his knowledge. She later edited the audio to make it appear as a sexual assault and reported it to the police after being confronted by her supervisor about fraternization. The police investigation revealed that the encounter was consensual, as confirmed by text messages and the full audio recording.
The case has drawn attention due to the impact of Rodriguez’s actions on Pervez’s career. He resigned from the military, losing his pension and facing continued harassment.
