Furniture Mission Helps Families Start Fresh

LANCASTER, Pa. — Furniture that might have ended up on the curb is getting a second life in South Central Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Furniture Mission, based in Columbia, collects gently used furniture and delivers it to families starting over. Since launching in 2023, the nonprofit has furnished hundreds of homes and helped more than a thousand people across six counties.

“Our mission is to make sure no one has to live in an empty house,” said Pashk Sokoli, who works with the Pennsylvania Furniture Mission. “Having a bed to sleep on or a table to eat at gives people dignity and stability.”…
