Dauphin County school district considers paying parents to drive kids to school

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — One Dauphin County school district is betting it can solve the bus driver shortage by paying parents to drive their own children.

The Susquehanna Township School District said it is considering a program where parents would get $50 per student — up to $100 total — each month for transporting them to and from school every day of the 2025-2026 school year.
