For 30 years, York County man held on to a stranger’s gravestone

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — In Jackson Township, just outside of Spring Grove, sits a grave marker for a child.

It’s for a baby girl named Louisa, to be specific, who passed in 1889. But she’s not with the gravestone.

“I found it while I was working with Spring Garden Township. Somebody had just put it out for trash,” said Neal Butting. “That’s kind of a dishonor to that child, and so I picked it up and saved it.”
