DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa (WHP) — Counties across Pennsylvania are dealing with the challenge of keeping students on track with reading at their appropriate grade level.
But for Ishia Smith and her seven-year-old daughter, Hannah Smith-Jackson, the pair have found a unique way to incorporate reading into their daily routine.
“I put her in the shopping cart and go straight for the books, and while I’m grocery shopping, she reads to me,” said Ishia. “That is our time, so while I’m shopping, she follows me around in the cart.”…
