‘We’re so grateful’: 117-year-old Cumberland County store to close

For more than a century, residents of Mechanicsburg and beyond have been shopping at Ritters True Value Hardware for tools and other supplies.

But on Tuesday, the shop, a landmark on Main Street in Mechanicsburg, announced it will close at the end of the month after 117 years.

“It’s not easy to say this, but after many wonderful years, Ritter’s Hardware will be closing. This store has been more than just a place to pick up nuts and bolts — it’s been part of our community, and we’re so grateful for all of you who have supported us over the years,” the store posted on its Facebook page…
