One year after relaunch, gun violence prevention office sets strategy in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pa. — One year after being reestablished, Pennsylvania’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention convened its first statewide advisory group Tuesday in Harrisburg.

The meeting brought together advocates, survivors, health experts and law enforcement officials to guide the state’s strategy on reducing gun violence.

The meeting marked a milestone in the office’s first year of work, during which Pennsylvania recorded a 23% decline in homicides in 2024, outpacing the national decrease of 15%, officials said.
