Steelton Police officer awarded Medal of Valor for actions during July 6 shots-fired incident

STEELTON, Pa. — The Steelton Borough Police Department on Tuesday announced it has awarded the Medal of Valor to an officer whose actions during a shots-fired incident on July 6 helped protect a large crowd gathered outside a local lounge.

According to the police department, the Medal of Valor is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an officer, and is awarded “only in exceptional instances involving extremely hazardous circumstances in which a member has actually risked his or her life in the performance of duty.”

Officer CJ Reyes is the recipient of the award for his response to a shooting outside the Soul Lounge Cafe on North Front Street in the early morning hours of July 6, the department said…
