Costco Prepares to Open a New Store in Pennsylvania

Costco is preparing to open its first warehouse in Cumberland County, with an opening scheduled for October 2025. The project marks the first major development on this tract, which was farmland for decades. Plans include a 161,000-square-foot warehouse, more than 800 parking spaces, and a fuel station. Work has continued through 2024 and 2025. Road upgrades are underway to handle traffic once the store opens. With this build, Costco expands its reach in central Pennsylvania, adding strong competition to Sam’s Club and BJ’s Wholesale.

Location

The store is rising along the busy Carlisle Pike corridor in Silver Spring Township. It sits across from Cumberland Valley High School and is designed with access from Hempt Road, Lexus Lane, and Roaring Fork Road.
