Aggressive driving enforcement initiative underway in York County

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — York County Regional Police will join the Pennsylvania State Police and approximately 300 municipal agencies to conduct a targeted aggressive-driving enforcement wave from October 20 through November 9, 2025.

The initiative is part of Pennsylvania’s Highway Safety Program, funded through PennDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It targets drivers who exhibit unsafe and aggressive behaviors — including speeding, tailgating, running red lights, and failing to obey school bus laws or Pennsylvania’s Move Over Law. Police say anyone stopped during the enforcement will receive a ticket.

“Aggressive driving is the number one causal factor of crashes here,” said Barb Zortman, Director of the Center for Traffic Safety in York County. “It’s been at the top for about four years now. In York County alone, 38% of crashes are due to aggressive driving.”…
