Thomas Packard didn’t at first tell police he retrieved a firearm when he heard shots being fired a door away from his North Harrisburg Street apartment on Nov. 4, 2023.
He never pulled the gun’s trigger, so it didn’t seem relevant, he said.
Instead, he called out, “Hey! No!” to an unknown man he saw holding a gun on his neighbor’s front porch. The man turned and looked at Packard before turning back to the front door of the apartment and drilling as many as 10 bullets into the apartment…
