DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa (WHP) — Dauphin County officials are implementing a hiring freeze due to ongoing state and federal issues.
CBS 21 received a letter that outlined the freeze, which stated that public safety, prisoner safety, and the administration of free and fair elections are the only departments not impacted.
Commissioner Justin Douglas confirmed the letter was legitimate and it reads that the following departments will be impacted “effective immediately” as of Oct. 23:

- Budget & Finance
- Chief Clerk’s Office
- Children & Youth
- Community & Economic Development
- Commissioners’ Office
- Conservative District
- Cooperation Extension
- Drug & Alcohol Services
- Facility Maintenance
- Human Resources
- Human Services
- Information Technology
- Mental Health/Autism/Developmental Programs
- Parks & Recreation
- Public Defender
- Solicitors’ Office
- Solid Waste & Recycling
- Tax Assessments & Tax Claims
- Veteran Affairs
