Nearly 5,000 still without power in central Pa. after a windy night

After high winds swept through Pennsylvania on Wednesday night, more than 20,000 people statewide are without power, according to PPL’s outage map.

More than 83,700 people experienced power interruptions as a result of the storm and more than 66,140 of them had their power restored as of 6 a.m. on Thursday, said Jane George, a PPL spokesperson.

“The expected strong winds caused extensive damage across our service territory,” George said. “We know how difficult it is to be without power. Crews will continue working to repair any damage and restore power and will not stop until every customer has their power restored…
