Last September, three Northern York County police officers were shot and killed, and two other law enforcement officers were wounded when they showed up at a North Cadores Township farmhouse to arrest a man stalking his ex-girlfriend. Studies show that most mass shooters had perpetrated or were the victims of domestic violence in their lives prior to the mass shooting event. Now, before thinking these are extreme examples know that more than 1,500 people have died in Pennsylvania as the result of domestic violence over the past 10 years. Obviously, not all domestic violence results in a death, but it occurs far too often and leaves scars on the survivors and their families.
