Driver Dies Trapped In 5-Vehicle Crash On Rt 283 In Dauphin County: Officials

A driver died after being trapped in a five-vehicle crash on Route 283 in Dauphin County, Londonderry Fire Company announced on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 5:15 p.m.

Crews were dispatched to Route 283 westbound at Mile Marker 3.8 near the Vine Street exit, where they found three vehicles in the median and one driver confined inside a passenger car, according to the fire company.

Firefighters from Engine 59 arrived first and began the extrication. Engine 54 and Rescue 88 soon joined them, and all crews worked together to remove the passenger door and roof to free the trapped driver, officials said…
