Crews to detonate 19th Street Bridge this weekend. How the construction could impact your commute

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A major step in the multi-year Interstate 83 expansion project is happening this weekend as crews prepare to demolish the 19th St. Bridge.

PennDOT will shut down I-83 in both directions starting at 11 p.m. Saturday, reopening by 8 a.m. Sunday, as crews carry out a controlled blast to bring down the overpass. More than 100,000 vehicles use this section of I-83 daily.
